Some potential Sub-Zero icemaker problems :

No ice/Slow ice production - If your Sub-Zero icemaker is not making cubes or producing them rather slowly, there may be a water pressure problem. The water supply (plumbing) needs to supply sufficient water flow to your Sub-Zero product. If the water pressure is sufficient, then there may be a problem with the water inlet valve, the icemaker itself or the temperature within the freezer. All Sub-Zero icemakers have a 'bail arm' which turns off the icemaker when there is enough ice, in the ice bin. It's important to ensure that this bail arm is down, or in the 'on' position and that the icemaker switch on your control is also in the 'on' position.

Icemaker leaking - Icemaker may be cracked and leaking or asking for too much water. The water inlet valve may not be closing fully and may need to be replaced.

Dirty/foreign particles in ice cubes - If you are experiencing spots or flakes within your ice cubes, the icemaker usually needs to be replaced. This may be caused by the protective coating on the icemaker having starting to break down and peel off the icemaker.

Bad taste/smell - To improve the taste or any possible smell in your ice cubes, try changing your water filter. Older Sub-Zero units do not have water filters, in this case you could have a plumber install an external water filter on the plumbing line, bringing water to your Sub-Zero.

The ideal temperature for any Sub-Zero freezer is 0 degrees fahrenheit, which should be achievable on a mid-range setting. If your freezer is not cooling to the correct temperature and too warm, your icemaker thermostat will not be able to produce the desired amount of ice cubes within the correct timeframe. We recommend placing a small refrigeration thermometer in your freezer and locate it centrally. This is a good indicator if problems do arise. If they do, you can give us a call!
